The Ohio House consisted of many projects, the main one being a 150 foot long hallway the client wanted to be painted in the theme of the Ohio Bicentennial. Basically 200+ years of Ohio History that I ended up expanding on by thousands of years. A ton of research went into this project gathering as much relevant info on Ohio I could find that would translate well into murals. The mural begins at one end with The Hocking Hills representing prehistoric Ohio and the Ice Age. It moves on to early natives with the Indian mounds, fossils and artifacts uncovered, to the settling of the modern land space and statehood in 1803. From the Wright brothers, to the state fair, to the Buckeyes and a buckeye tree, to the 8 Presidents and hundreds of famous people from Ohio. All the major sports teams and companies founded in Ohio are represented, as well as the major cities. The hallway tells the story of Ohio from the beginning of time to modern day, including facts and dates about each element in the mural. This project took me almost a year to complete and is some of my best work to date.
I also completed many other projects and rooms for this client including a playroom with a giant colorful map of the world on the ceiling, children’s bedrooms, bathrooms, lots of quotes and fun little murals in other spaces, even some furniture, including a dollhouse and table and chair set.
